Joining Forces in Digital Distribution

The German-based digital distribution and marketing company Zebralution this morning (December 12) has announced its acquisition of an 80-percent majority stake in Open Publishing, a software and service provider for the distribution of ebooks and print-on-demand products.

Julius Mittenzwei will continue to lead Open Publishing  company in his current role as managing partner.

Tina Jürgens, co-CEO of Zebralution, will be appointed to the management of Open Publishing.

Zebralution’s media messaging reports that the acquisition is expected to give customers of both companies access to a range of services for the production, marketing, and international distribution.

The collaboration is foreseen as resulting in integrated digital infrastructure to make publishing processes more efficient and to increase reach and revenue in distribution.

Julius Mittenzwei

“The partnership with Zebralution is a significant step,” says Julius Mittenzwei, managing director of Open Publishing.

“It opens up new opportunities for us to expand our services and strengthen our market position,” he says.

“I look forward to shaping the future of Open Publishing together with the entire team.”

Ralf Biesemeier

Ralf Biesemeier, the manager of digital publishing at Zebralution, says, “In a dynamically changing media landscape, we find that market expansion, customer engagement, visibility, and conversion are perhaps more important than ever

“We need approaches that ensure we reach our target audiences in relevant channels and engage them in a way that drives purchase motivation.

“Together with Open Publishing, we’ll develop impactful products.”

Tina Jürgens

And Tina Jürgens, co-managing director of Zebralution, says, “The acquisition of Open Publishing is a significant strategic step to expand our portfolio and offer our customers even more comprehensive solutions.

“We see great potential in this collaboration and are very much looking forward to the joint projects.”

Digital distribution in music, audiobooks, and podcasting is the area of lead effort for which most in the business know Zebralution.

Open Publishing is focused more on ebooks and print-on-demand services, opening a broader dimension for Zebralution in a services area already busy with several  players in the German market.

More on the German market is here, and on international publishing is here, more on distribution is here, and more on mergers and acquisitions is here.
