‘A New Chapter in My Working Life’

News today (March 7) from Berlin tells us that Peter Karwowski is stepping down as CEO at the German publishing-management software company Klopotek, a move described as a personal one so that Karwowski can “embark on a new professional journey.”

Cheryll Beumer—portfolio manager at Klopotek’s Québec-based parent company Valsoft since the acquisition in August 2023—is stepping in, we’re told, as interim CEO.

Beumer has worked closely with Klopotek and its management since Valsoft’s acquisition of Klopotek. “Uli”—Ulrich Klopotek von Glowczewski—had hand-picked Karwowski to take the reins as the Valsoft acquisition was completed.

As for a newly appointed fully vested CEO, Klopotek’s media messaging today says, “In the coming months, we’ll evaluate the best leadership structure for Klopotek, considering both internal and external options, and will provide updates once a decision has been made.”

Ongoing Leadership

For now, Nella Klopotek von Glowczewski continues in her role of Chief Customer Officer, and Marco Losavio is onboard as CTO. Bernhard Dock remains in place as COO.

Karwowski, announcing his departure, is quoted, saying, “After nearly 30 years in the publishing industry, including the last 10 years at Klopotek, the time has come for me to start a new chapter in my working life outside the industry.

“While I’m bidding farewell to publishing, I will remain closely connected to it. Klopotek has undergone a remarkable transformation during this time, evolving and positioning itself strongly for the future. Klopotek remains in excellent hands, and I’m confident that the company will continue to grow and thrive.

Peter Karwowski

“I am deeply grateful for the trust and support of my colleagues, especially the leadership team and all the teams I had the privilege of working with closely, collaboratively, and successfully over the years.”

There’s a 30-minute sponsored presentation from the company set for 4 p.m. on Day Three of the trade show, March 13. Innovation – the Strength of Partnerships and Smart Collaboration will feature the company’s chief sales officer, James Whittaker.
